I spend most days away from home. I live in the south, and I work in the metro, which means I need to stay someplace near the office. My shifting schedule and the two-hour travel is something I cannot deal with everyday.
It was a big leap for me, living independently. For all my life I've lived with my family. It wasn't easy for me at first, but I have to adjust and embrace the change. This is part of growing up.
It's been two years, and I could definitely say that I learned so much about life while being away. I met a lot of people, gained new friends, dealt with issues about myself, knew my strengths and weaknesses. I became a different version of me. Only better.
It really takes guts to get out of your comfort zone. But let me tell you this- it's all worth it.
Still, no matter how many friends you've had and places you've been to, you will always find yourself going back to that one familiar street, because there is no place like home.
